Our Story

When Ruby was 10, she came to me and told me she wanted to wear bikinis like all her friends. So we bought her bikinis. She felt great. And we felt great. It wasn’t until a trip to Panama – when we would be outside our accepting community – that I realized finding fun, fashionable and COMFORTABLE clothing for trans girls was a real and universal problem that needed to be solved.I started RUBIES in 2019 to tackle that very problem. My goal was to create a fashion line – starting with bikini bottoms – geared toward trans youth aged six to 14. From the start, we received requests for more styles and sizes to fit all ages. In response, we expanded our sizing to include adult sizes and introduced new products designed for swimming, active lifestyles, and everyday wear.

I wanted to celebrate this community. I wanted to support parents like me who embrace their daughters wholeheartedly and encourage them to do everything they love without any limitations. And I wanted to give Ruby and all the girls like her the comfort and confidence to shine – no matter where they are, what they are doing or what they love to wear.
